Types of Penile Implants There are two main types of penile implants: Inflatable Implants : These implants consist of cylinders that are surgically placed inside the penis. A small pump is implanted in the scrotum, and a reservoir of fluid is implanted in the abdomen or pelvis. When the pump in the scrotum is squeezed, the fluid is transferred from the reservoir into the cylinders, causing the penis to become erect.
